Questions about Rust

Vanilla+ means original Rust gameplay with no mods that change how the game plays. There are only small server-side settings such as lower upkeep, decay 50 % and quick connect. It plays like vanilla, just a little more accessible.

It depends on the server. The Small server (map 3500) is strictly solo/duo: a maximum of 2 players per team. On the Medium server (map 4500), since 1 September 2026 a team may have up to 8 members, but no more than 4 of them online at the same time. Anyone trying to join as the fifth is refused at connect. That lets a larger roster rotate without an overwhelming force standing on the map. Alliances between separate teams remain forbidden on every server.

Start Rust, press F1 in the main menu and enter the connect command 'client.connect IP:port'. The exact command is on every server page behind the copy button. Alternatively, search the Rust server browser for 'Nerux'.

Every wipe is at 20:30 Berlin time, when the new map is ready and the server is playable. Nerux EU Small | Weekly wipes every Friday, Nerux EU Medium | Monthly on the first Thursday of the month. The first Thursday is Facepunch's forced wipe, which hits every Rust server: that week the Weekly wipes on Thursday instead of Friday, both together as soon as Facepunch's update is out. They are usually playable by 20:30. The next date is shown live with a countdown on the home page and on the server's page.

No. Nerux has no blueprint wipes (no BP wipes), only map and server wipes. Blueprints you have learned stay with you permanently, including across Facepunch's monthly forced wipe: Rust starts a fresh blueprint database there, but we carry your progress over to it beforehand.

The size is in the server name, written the way the official servers write it: 'Small' is 3500, compact, so you run into people often. 'Medium' is 4500, with more room and more monuments but longer walks. Small runs as a Weekly, Medium as a Monthly. Since 1 September 2026 the sizes also differ in the team limit: Small is solo/duo, Medium allows a roster of 8 with at most 4 online at a time.

Yes. In the map vote you use your Steam account to pick the map that is played next: one vote per account, valid until the wipe. Each server has its own vote.

Yes. The servers run in a German data centre (Hetzner) and are protected against DDoS. That means low pings across central Europe and wipes without interruptions.

In short: no cheating, no alliances and respect in chat. The team limit differs by server: Small allows 2 players per team, Medium a roster of 8 with at most 4 online at a time. The full rule set is on the rules page.

A few server-side convenience and admin tools run here. There are no kits, no shops, no permanent gather or loot boosts and no pay-to-win. The Rust mechanics are true to the original. There is one time-limited exception since 1 September 2026: on the Monthly server, anyone returning after at least seven missed days gathers double for 90 minutes of playtime, once per wipe. None of it is for sale.

Yes, on the Monthly server (Medium). If you have been away for seven days or more, you gather double from trees, ore and animals for 90 minutes after you come back. Those 90 minutes only run while you play. Sleeping does not use them up. You get it once per wipe round, and only if you missed part of the round in progress: right after a wipe everyone is level, so there is nothing to catch up on. The Weekly server does not have it, since it wipes every week anyway.

Through the black box. It runs on every Nerux Rust server and records what players outside your team do at your base: what they destroyed and with what, which boxes were opened and what is missing now, whether someone knew your code or authorized on your tool cupboard. Decay and empty upkeep are recorded too. At your next login the summary is in chat, and !blackbox gives you the full report. It never names anyone, and it shows no times or places outside your base. Someone who authorizes on your cupboard after breaking in does not get your reports. An offline raid is also reported to the admins automatically.

Nerux Gameservers runs German game servers in a data centre in Germany (Hetzner), protected against DDoS and with low pings across Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Live right now: two Rust servers (Small Weekly for solo/duo, Medium Monthly for teams of up to 8) and a SCUM server with PvP and offline raid protection. A Minecraft cluster for the Java Edition is in the works.

No. Every Nerux server is free to play, with no password and no paid advantages. If you want to support the project you can do so voluntarily through the support link. There is no pay-to-win on any server.

On Discord. That is where you reach the admin team, ask questions and report breaches. Reports need evidence: a clip for cheating, an unedited screenshot for chat incidents.

In a data centre in Germany (Hetzner), with DDoS protection. For players in Germany, Austria and Switzerland that means short routes; from the rest of Europe the ping is usually still perfectly playable.

Respectful behaviour, no hate speech, no cheating, no dupes, and reports go through a ticket rather than public chat. All rules are on the rules page of each game.
